Situated on the eastern edge of Manchester city centre and overlooking the Rochdale Canal, the magnificent old mill, which dates back to 1797, is a key focal point of the Ancoats conservation area.
This site, steeped in industrial history and surrounded by scenic beauty, is undergoing a major programme of rejuvenation that includes breathing new life into the original buildings.
The mill’s listed status, however, meant that licensed alwitra contractor Roofscape, of Southport, was extremely limited in what could be touched. This included various nails and other original features.
Specified by FSP Architects and Planners, the flexibility of the world beating Evalon® single ply membrane made it the natural choice for such a sensitive job.
In total, 2,800 square metres of Evalon® and Evalon V® was used to complete the works, including two new residential builds. Evalon V® was used throughout the majority of the roof, with the increased workability of the Evalon® membrane taking care of the detailed work, including the tricky listed elements.Back to Project List
