Step 7 - Irrigation
The decision of whether to provide a specific irrigation system will be determined by the type of roof garden its orientation and location.
As a rule of thumb a basic extensive roof garden will not require any additional irrigation other then what Mother Nature provides. However if, for example, the garden is on a slope thereby increasing the rate of and amount of water run-off and/or in an exposed location where winds will cause increased drying, then additional irrigation should be built into the system. This could be something as simple as installing a ‘leaky hose' within the build up.
More elaborate irrigation systems involving timers and pumps can be bespoke designed as required.
In addition DIADEM® offers a complete rainwater management system, to provide irrigation; the BKS Irrigation System, which is designed around a zero falls construction.
