Evalon roofing membranes

Alwitra's world renowned Evalon® roofing membrane has delivered the ultimate in modern, yet sympathetic roofing solutions to the refurbishment of a badly damaged listed roof at Manchester's historic Royal Mills - with a look that blends seamlessly in a conservation area rich in architectural heritage.

Situated on the eastern edge of Manchester city centre and overlooking the Rochdale Canal, the magnificent old mill, which dates back to 1797, is a key focal point of the Ancoats conservation area.

This site, steeped in industrial history and surrounded by scenic beauty, is undergoing a major programme of rejuvenation that includes breathing new life into the original buildings.

The mill's listed status, however, meant that licensed Alwitra contractor Roofscape, of Southport, was extremely limited in what could be touched. This included various nails and other original features.

Specified by FSP Architects and Planners, the flexibility of the world beating Evalon® single ply membrane made it the natural choice for such a sensitive job.

In total, 2,800 square metres of Evalon® and Evalon® V was used to complete the works, including two new residential builds. Evalon® V was used throughout the majority of the roof, with the increased workability of the Evalon® membrane taking care of the detailed work, including the tricky listed elements.

The Alwitra range of Evalon® advanced single ply roofing system membranes is available exclusively in the UK from ICB and promises superb long-term performance, backed by a 20 year guarantee.

Available in eight colours as standard and other colours to special order, Evalon® is naturally root resistant and can be fully adhered using a range of special adhesives, mechanically fixed, loose laid and ballasted.

It is just one product in a wide portfolio of highly engineered products making up ICB's Ultimate Roofing System. This includes fine quality flashings, edge trims, roof lights, rainwater outlets, standing seam details and every component for extensive or intensive green roofs.
